If you’re feeling bereft, or you wish to help someone who is, then you’ve found the right place

If you’re feeling bereft, or you wish to help someone who is, then you’ve found the right place

At Grief UK we recognise that grief is the normal and natural reaction to loss - whether that loss has been brought about by a bereavement, i.e. the death of someone important in your life, the end of a relationship, or one of the over 40 significant life events that invoke grief. On this site you will find more information about the various ways in which you can help yourself using the evidence-based Grief Recovery Method, which has been helping people all over the world for the past 30+ years. You will also find a number of useful articles & videos on specific grief & bereavement related issues.

If your work regularly brings you into contact with grievers then you will love the Grief Recovery Method Certification Training. This comprehensive package is a mix of classroom training, practical experience, learning materials and on-going individual support.

Hugely popular with coaches, funeral directors, clergy (regardless of which faith), therapists and counsellors and many other professionals, the programme is recognised by dozens of professional bodies around the world. In the UK so far it was endorsed by the BACP for 30 hours CPD, is Quality Checked® by the National Counselling Society and was included in the Good CPD guide by the Training Development Agency for schools (TDA).

Having experienced first hand just how little useful help there is available, many participants also go on to train as Grief Recovery Method Specialists themselves - in order to bring this highly effective programme to even more people. The Grief Recovery Method developed by John W James and Russell Friedman, founders of the Grief Recovery Institute in the USA has helped hundreds of thousands of people around the world.

Find out more about using the Grief Recovery Method to help yourself

It’s not counselling
It’s not therapy
It’s not an alternative treatment
While any of the above routes may be of some little or great benefit, they mainly offer a path to discovery of the thoughts and feelings you have around the loss in your life. However, here at Grief Recovery we maintain that discovery is not the same as recovery. The Grief Recovery Method is an action plan.

It is a series of small steps that when taken, in order, by the griever it leads to the completion of all the unresolved business linked to the loss. It is also (as far as we know) the only grief support programme with an evidence base to it's positive impact.
There are a number of ways in which you can learn the Grief Recovery Method for yourself or you can learn how to teach it to others by becoming a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist.
