How I can help you

I am an experienced facilitator and educator, with a real interest in how our emotions influence our physical and mental health. I am based in Glastonbury, and teach a range of tools that enable people to take control of their health. These include courses in The Grief Recovery Method and Autogenic Training as well as an NHS funded Wellbeing for Pre-Diabetics. I deliver these courses online, as well as face to face with groups in Somerset and Devon.

What I find so powerful about the Grief Recovery Method, is that it gives us accessible tools for processing difficult emotions, which in turn allows us to live our lives more authentically. This has become the focus of all of my work, where I often see the strain that we put on our bodies and minds, by holding on to emotional pain from the past. When we experience loss of any kind, our lives can feel out of our control. And the coping strategies that may help for a while, in the long term do more harm than good. Many of us are unaware that not being able to express our feelings fully, or say goodbye, can prolong pain and hold us back for years.

I found this new focus to my work after a personal crisis I experienced, when my mother was killed in a car crash in 2013. I tried to get on with life, and I found I could no longer relate to people or perform my job in the same way. My long-term relationship ended soon afterwards. As well as missing my mother terribly, I had lost faith that the world was a good place. I lost sense of myself, and found very little joy or meaning in life. I finally had to start dealing with the pain I’d been holding onto, and challenge behaviour patterns that were damaging my health. By working with my emotions instead of against them, by using the Grief Recovery Method and other tools, I found that I felt safe to process losses from my past, and take control of my future.

Every time I take someone through their own steps of discovery and recovery, I feel privileged to be able to do this work with them. The skills and confidence that you will learn, will be with you for life. I welcome anyone who is interested in doing this work with my guidance, and these are some areas of my particular experience and interest:
• Sudden bereavement
• Loss of parents
• Relationship changes
• Menopause
• Health challenges
• Food and other addictions
• Career changes and retirement
• Moving home
• Loss of the natural world
• Climate change anxiety and grief

If you have any questions or would like an informal chat about what’s going on for you, do give me a call, text or email. I look forward to hearing from you.

Over 40+ life losses can leave us feeling bereft

When we think of bereavement, we usually think of the death of a loved one. Most people looking for bereavement counselling or a grief coach only feel entitled to do so if someone close to them has died.

However there are over 40 different personal losses that can leave us feeling devastated, heartbroken, lost, hopeless and ultimately cause the same emotional and physical symptoms of grief.

The Grief Recovery Method is unique in that it is applicable to any and all kinds of loss. Each Certified Grief Recovery Specialist has been trained to guide grievers without judgement, criticism or analysis. We do not compare losses and we know that every griever is unique.

Not only can the action steps within the Grief Recovery Method be applied to any type of loss, they can be used again and again with any future losses that occur - once you have participated in a Programme, you will have all the tools you need to cope with loss later in life.
